When you try to run 3ds max 9 or VIZ Render in Windows Vista, the following error message is displayed:

The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click OK to terminate the application.

Right-click on the Max desktop icon and choose the function "Run As Administrator". Or select the item Properties and on the Compatibility tab check the option "Run this program as Administrator".
