Q - question

How to unfold 3D model (e.g. sheetmetal) into 2D?

A - answer This functionality is included in Autodesk Inventor. For AutoCAD or Mechanical Desktop you have to use some add-on application.

E.g. SPI Sheetmetal (www.spi.de) can unfold AutoCAD 3D solid models or MDT parametric models (or even lofted NURBS freeform surfaces) with all technological parameters for bending corrections, checks, etc.

You can also consider Litio 3D (www.litio3d.com.ar) or simple utilities like that from www.black-cad.de.
