Q - question

Compatibility of Vault Server with older versions of Vault clients.

A - answer Autodesk Vault Server (ADMS) in a new version is usually compatible not only with clients of the same version, but also with a couple of older versions of Vault Clients and Vault Add-Ins (e.g. in Inventor). This allows to run PDM management of CAD documents in enterprise environments combining multiple versions of CAD applications - e.g. Vault Server 2016 for a company network with designers using Inventor 2016, Inventor 2015 and Inventor 2014.

Compatibility table (server - client applications):

  • Vault Server 2011 (ADMS2011) - 2011 and limited 2010 (with client upgrade)
  • Vault Server 2012 (ADMS2012) - 2012 and limited 2011, 2010 (with client upgrade)
  • Vault Server 2013 (ADMS2013) - 2013, 2012 and limited 2011, 2010 (with client upgrade)
  • Vault Server 2014 (ADMS2014) - 2014, 2013, 2012
  • Vault Server 2015 (ADMS2015) or 2015 R2 - 2015, 2014, 2013
  • Vault Server 2016 (ADMS2016) - 2016, 2015, 2014
  • Vault Server 2017 (ADMS2017) - 2017, 2016, 2015 (estimated)

New functions of the Vault Server in a specific version may not be supported in older versions of Vault Client and Vault Add-In.

Vault administration should be always performed from the current version of Vault Client and ADMS Console.
