Q - question

Failed previews and downloaded documents in iProject.

A - answer Internet Explorer 7 and 8 in Windows Vista and Windows 7 use by default the "Protected mode". This mode – for security reasons – isolates the internet browser session from the rest of the operating system. One of the consequences of this protection is that iProject saves the downloaded files to the virtualized folder:

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Virtualized\C\Users\USERNAME\Documents\

The document Open function then does not work properly and the downloaded (copied-out, checked-out) files are saved elsewhere.

There are three possible solutions:

  1. Increasing access rights for the MSIE application – run as Administrator or disable the UAC protection in Windows (not recommended)
  2. Disabling Protected mode for the "Internet" or "Local intranet" zone (if you use the local version of iProject) - not recommended
  3. Adding iProject server to the list of Trusted servers and disabling the protected mode for the trusted zone.

Use Tools > Internet Options > Security and click on the "Trusted servers" checkmark icon and on the Servers button. Clear the https certification request (if you don't use https for iProject] and add the address of your iProject server to the list of Trusted servers. Confirm by OK, and immediately clear the checkbox "Enable protected mode" (this setting applies only to the Trusted zone). Restart Internet Explorer.
(You can disable the top warning yellow pane by mouse right-click.)
