How to export a Maya LT scene to Autodesk Maya?

The "light" version Autodesk Maya LT can open files in the native Maya format - .ma and .mb (Maya ASCII, Maya Binary) but it cannot save them directly.

To transfer scenes from the LT version to the full version of Maya, use file export to the exchange format FBX (or OBJ). This can be then brought into Autodesk Maya.
