I think there is an easier way ... just simply copy your *.pat file to the folder - C:\Documents and Settings\(Name)\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD (version)\R18.0\enu\Support\

Installing hatch patterns in a few minutes
Installing AutoCAD hatch pattens is easy and takes just a few minutes. First locate a file named acad.pat and acadiso.pat (or aclt.pat and acltiso.pat for LT). Acadiso.pat and acltiso.pat are for metric hatch pattern scaling. To begin installing your custom AutoCAD hatch patterns first locate the hatch pattern file on your computer using the following method: You will need to search for hidden folders in Windows. To do this first click “Start”, next click “Search”, click “All files and folders”, and then click “More advanced options”. Next click to select the “Search system folders and “Search hidden files and folders” check boxes. In the “All or part of the file name” box type: *.pat to locate your hatch patterns file. Once you locate the acad.pat file, right click on the file and open it with Notepad. Finally add your custom hatch pattern to the file by simply pasting the hatch pattern code. Important step: Make sure to add a carriage return at the end of the last line. (Hit Enter to force a new blank line at the end of the code) |
