Q - question

Missing 3DSOUT command in AutoCAD 2009/2008/2007.

A - answer Trying to export 3D model to the 3D Studio format .3DS, AutoCAD 2007, 2008, 2009 and higher reports the "unknown command" error.

The command 3DSOUT was a part of the older AutoCAD rendering kernel and it was removed from AutoCAD versions built on the newer Mental Ray kernel.

If you need to export 3DS files e.g. to transfer a 3D geometry, you can use the free utility 3DSOUT available for CAD applications of the AutoCAD 2008 and 2007 families (works also in AutoCAD 2009). 3DSOUT can be downloaded from Download.

To convert your 3D scenes to 3ds Max myou can also use the DWG and FBX formats.
